The Baha’i Centre in Toronto will be one venue among a few hundred across Canada for a special program tomorrow marking the anniversary of the birth of Baha’u’llah, which occurred on 12 November 1817 in Tehran, Iran.
The anniversary is one of nine Baha’i holy days during the year on which Baha’is are enjoined to suspend work, and gather together to commemorate the significance of the day.
Activities are planned in cities, towns, and villages around the globe, including national and local Baha’i centres, at public facilities and in private homes.
In Toronto, Baha’is will treat their guests to readings, music and refreshments for this special holy day.
Considered by His followers to be a Manifestation of God in a line of divine teachers that includes the Bab, Moses, Jesus, Mohammad, Krishna, Buddha and others, Baha’u’llah attracted thousands of believers to His Faith before His passing in 1892, in Acre in what is now Israel.
Today the Baha’i Faith is established in virtually every country and has about 5 million adherents.
